Unnecessary Evil Thots

CAVECOMP • kids are cutting little letters to create a “simulation” of movable type, i’m tempted to bring out a fan.. i’m a mean man

• Planning/Min. Day! & my students have a test that should keep ‘em busy the whole time. 1st time using “Quiz Press” from www.solrobots.com

• Period1 silently struggled, Period2 downright screamed that the test was too hard. Maybe I shouldn’t give these tests on planning days. ack

• had the evil thot 2 introduce a fan 2 a class w/ 100s of little cut-out letters, 2day it’s clear kids don’t need a fan 2 scatter their work

11-28 LB City Bus Catches on Fire
Nothing scarier than smelling strong smoke while sitting at a computer – city bus outside seems to have caught fire… yikes. Funny thing, at that very moment Chris Pirillo had posted a video talking about his 30″ LCD catching fire…. very scary when synchronistic strikes

The Problem of Posting Pictures Online

10-19 Neva's Last Long Beach Show (@ Taco Beach) I was listening several weeks ago to Leo Laporte’s Jumping Monkeys” podcast about parenting in the digital age and his co-host, Megan Morrone, talked about a parent who was suing a company for using a picture the parent had posted on the online picture website, Flickr (See Episode 18). Laporte and his fellow TWITS have all been long advocates of online media going back to the ZD-TV days when the big thing was to post cellphone pictures to TextAmerica. But, admittedly, there’s a bit difference between posting stupid grainy cellphone pictures of you and your drinking buddies versus family pictures of your teenage niece and her friends. Ack

Taco Beach loves it’s Alt/Female Rockers

Taco Beach loves it’s Alt/Female Rockers Originally uploaded by boringcom
Hard to hear above the din of “conversation,” Corday knocks out some Johnny Cash, Sheryl Crow and original tunes. She seems to be pretty popular with the “girls w/ girls” crowd. Gotta love Long Beach. Doesn’t help my social life any but neither does bitching and complaining about it. Damn. Onward and upward. ;-) jbb

  • sanyo_xacti_3shot Lovin’ the CNET “Holiday Helpdesk.” Totally reminds me of the old TechTV days. #
  • heading out, shopping 4 a SD-based video camera like Sanyo’s Xacti. Going to Fry’s and the local apple store. fingers crossed #
  • anyone notice that the Apple Stores don’t carry many 3rd party products, like cameras? Some good deals @ the online apple store. Search … #
  • OMG Fry’s is a nuthouse with lines in every aisle. Time to retreat back to safer environs like In-n-Out. Yikes #
  • Just bought the SANYO XACTI VPC-E1 from the Apple Online store w/ a $201 discount. Not HD but ok 4 iMovie. 2 buy 4GB SD mem from costco
  • • why is it that every time I get a new gadget/camera it requires a different memory type? Buying 4GB SD 4 new Sanyo Xacti vidcam @ Costco $49 #
  • • argh! Just got an email from Apple that my Sanyo Xacti VidCam won’t ship until 12/5. Damn #

• p.s. 11/30/07: just got my new Xacti VPC-E1, appropriate 4 a rare rainy day in SoCal, waterproof vidcamera. Sucker is small enough 2 fit cargopants pockets #

Six Years Ago

071122tday1.gif Oh, that’s good. The first Long Island Ice Tea of the holiday. Yeow. Family festivities begin in an hour with sister Mich, but I swore to myself that I wouldn’t do without football this year. Last few years I’ve done T-Day with the Quinbys, who are not so much about TV and even less about Football. Alas, Taco Beach is closed so I’m at Shannon’s, which is next to TB, and if I don’t get an appetizer or something this LI is going to knock me out. I’m definitely going to be very mellow for the family part of the festivities. ;-)
