In an ongoing story about an FS Zen Garden, L Monroe reports, “The Zen Garden has become a victim of eminent domain. The City of Winter Park has sent in their demo crew to make room for a new shopping center.” Note that no one seems to care about the sticky note graffiti in the background. Outrageous. jbb

Phase 1

You are listening to jazz –Your first day at work is great. Your fellow teachers are wonderful, your classroom is cute, you love your students, and your principal is the best!
Phase 2

You are listening to pop music — After a while you are so busy that you are not sure if you’re coming or going anymore.
Phase 3

You are listening to heavy metal — This is what you feel like after ONE month.
Phase 4

You are listening to hip hop — You become bloated due to stress, you’re gaining weight due to lack of exercise because you are so tired and have so much school work to do and, when you do get home, you feel sluggish and suffer from constipation. Your fellow teachers are too cheerful for your liking and the walls of your classroom are closing in.
Phase 5

You are listening to GANGSTA RAP — After more time passes, your eyes start to twitch and you forget what a ‘good hair day’ feels like as you just fall out of bed and load up on caffeine.
Phase 6

You are listening to the voices in your head — You have locked your classroom door to keep people out. You wonder WHY you are even here in the first place and WHY you became a teacher!

So, I thought I’d avoid the horrendous lines on Voting Day by going to my local library for early voting on Wednesday, October 29th and ran headlong into the mother of all lines. Following are my whiny tweets from the event:
- Wow, early vote line is all the way around the block, & not moving 5:55 PM Oct 29th from Twinkle
- Not fair, someone is barbaquing across the street. Hungry. Early voting line, still over a block away from the library door. More podcasts 6:10 PM Oct 29th from Twinkle
- Sun going down, temperatures dropping, coat in car across the street. Not going 2 say anything about cloudless sky. Breeze picking up. Ack 6:33 PM Oct 29th from Twinkle
- I can almost see the door, freezing, hungry. Damn it, this election better not get stolen by RNC dirty tricks, or spend next 4 yrs on tricks 7:10 PM Oct 29th from Twinkle
- Mom in line is leading some kids in game of Simon Says. Simon Says I’m going 2 freeze b4 getting in doors. 60 degrees no fun w/o sweater ack 7:28 PM Oct 29th from Twinkle
- Omg, finally stepped into library. Hands, feet & nose r frozen. I have no idea how much longer b4 I can cast my ballot, but I’m warming up 8:08 PM Oct 29th from Twinkle
- Finished filling out ballot, now standing in line 2 have it scanned. at least I’m inside & not freezing. Oh yeah, only 1 scanner working 8:42 PM Oct 29th from Twinkle
- I am done! I need food, a beer, a bathroom & to sit down. Wow, I’m beat. 8:58 PM Oct 29th from Twinkle
- No hot cocoa, beer & burger @ packed Friendly Confines. Yum 9:38 PM Oct 29th from Twinkle

When I finally got home that night I proudly took a self-portrait wearing my “I Voted” sticker (and wore it for the rest of the week). Dammit, I earned it. jbb

I wrote some time ago about the Curse of Digitally Enhanced Memories because it has a tendency of painfully pointing out how I seem to make the same relationship mistakes time after time. As if that weren’t bad enough, I have recordings from a former “Christian musician” life that most of my current friends would have a good chuckle if they were to discover. Well, like the former relationship foibles, I’m going to own up to these recordings from many, many years ago and “enjoy” the nostalgia of it all. This first tune was something that I wrote for a friend’s infant daughter named Natalie…

For my friend, Sukie, thanks for the encouragement. More ancient tunes to follow…
