Another full theater for a 22-year-old film. I love watching movies with rooms full of fans. I didn’t notice anyone in costume or cosplaying (there was someone wearing an elvish green robe yesterday). There was a time when I would watch the Extended Edition plus the Appendices (behind the scenes documentaries) almost continuously, like always playing in the background. I hadn’t read the trilogy until I’d heard that the first film was going to come out and made sure to have finished whichever volume before the movie was released. And I felt so rewarded for my efforts because Peter Jackson and team were so faithful to the spirit of the books. The thing about the Two Towers is that, like most second parts of a three part story arch, things seem pretty hopeless for our heroes for most of the movie. I have a difficult time remembering that back in 2002 I had to wait a whole year between films (and that the extended editions were several years after that). I almost want to go home and put on the behind the scenes documentaries for the two towers just so that I can spend a bit more time in that world and with those heroes. Tomorrow night is the final chapter of the three-part Lord of the Rings trilogy. [happy nerd!] 😎
