One of the things that has always most attracted me to using technology in my writing has been the possibility of easy retrieval and keeping things that I’ve written available so as to these past works might motivate and enrich my current writing. Before computers I wrote my journals out in blank books and after gathering a collection of my poems into one such book I felt like I’d probably never read these words ever again. So when I started using a computer I was attracted to the idea that all I needed to do was write a search term and up would pop my words. Of course, I only tend to revisit my past journals when I’m in the mood to pick on myself or self-loathing. JBB
