I know I’ve been complaining of late that socially I seem to be stuck in the seventh grade but sometimes my students say the most amazing things. One morning this past week I was walking around the lab, checking my students’ progress on their projects, when one student whom I often caught looking at me asked my how old I was. When I told her that I’ll be turning 50 next July she blurted out, “That’s older than my dad!” Then, without missing a beat, asked, “Do you have a son?” Gotta love their unfiltered curiosity. Hmm, I think it’s time to update my e-Harmony profile. jbb
