I’m Tired of the Powerful Acting Powerless and Expecting Us to Make Up the Difference

This list showed up in my feeds and I felt the need to memorialize this moment by reposting this list… This shit needs to end:

Thirty-one people were killed in two mass shootings in the U.S. this weekend. Dozens more were injured.

In El Paso, TX, 22 people were killed while doing weekend shopping at Walmart.

The victims include: 

  • Jordan Anchondo, 25. Anchondo died shielding her 2-month-old baby. She had two other children.
  • Andre Anchondo. Anchondo was married to Jordan.
  • Javier Amir Rodriguez, 15. Rodriguez reportedly played soccer for a local club.
  • Arturo Benavides. Benavides was an Army veteran and a retired Sun Metro employee.
  • David Johnson, 63. Johnson was a grandfather who died shielding his wife and 9-year-old granddaughter.
  • Angelina Englisbee, 86. Englisbee loved watching sports and “General Hospital.”
  • Margie Reckard, 67.
  • Leonardo Campos and Maribel Hernandez, who were married.
  • Maria Flores, 77.
  • Raul Flores, 77.
  • Alexander Gerhard Hoffman, 66.
  • Luis Alfonzo Juarez, 90.
  • Teresa Sanchez, 82.
  • Juan Velazquez, 77.

 

At least seven of the victims were Mexican citizens:

  • Sara Esther Regalado from Ciudad Juarez.
  • Adolfo Cerros Hernández from Aguascalientes.
  • Jorge Calvillo García from Torreon, Coahuila.
  • Elsa Mendoza de la Mora from Yepomera, Chihuahua.
  • Gloria Irma Márquez Juárez from Ciudad Juarez. 
  • María Eugenia Legarreta Rothe from the city of Chihuahua. 
  • Ivan Filiberto Manzano from Ciudad Juarez.

Nine people were killed while enjoying a night out in an entertainment district in Dayton, Ohio.

The victims include:

  • Lois Oglesby, 27.
  • Megan Betts, 22. Betts was the alleged gunman’s sister.
  • Saeed Saleh, 38.
  • Derrick Fudge, 57.
  • Logan Turner, 30.
  • Nicholas Cumer, 25.
  • Thomas McNichols, 25.
  • Beatrice Warren-Curtis, 36.
  • Monica Brickhouse, 39.
