In elementary school, when it was library time I always chose LIFE magazine or National Geographic because I just wasn’t a very good reader. For one thing I didn’t know that I needed glasses until I was an adult. Oops. Fortunately there are other ways to begin to appreciate literature. Here’s a video from high school history teacher, Tim Smyth, who uses comics in his classes. Can you imagine how different learning would be if comics were a part of the assignments/activities? Would you take an English class where all of the assignments had to be turned in as comics?
