This was so funny and so painful in the same moment. Imagine taking the best of BBC/David Attenborough style documentary presentation in production and decorum, backdrops from around the world (or where they could reasonably get to during the later part of COVID) and then getting none of the facts correct. Real specialists and experts from history, culture, and academia were subject to Borat level inane questions, malapropisms and a clear lack of understanding from the series presenter, Philomena Cunk. My only fear is that someone is going to take her “observations” for actual insights and miss the point. As a lover of historical documentaries, this is so funny and horribly painful.
