The last time I was in California was January 2022 for mom’s memorial.  And the last time before that was a bit over two-years earlier for the 2019 Christmas break (in the Before Time). So today I drove from Las Vegas to Palmdale and back because I needed to deposit my partial estate check and the closest WESCOM branch is in Palmdale. The trip was a little under 4-hours there and 4-hours back. With stops at the two rest stops there and back, a stop to refuel and pick up some cookies at the Victorville Costco, making the deposit in Palmdale (and using their coin counting machine to get rid of the coins in my car… hey $15.09 is a pretty good haul), and dinner and a short nap at the Victorville In-n-Out, it was over 10-hours on the road. I pulled into my parking space at home at 9pm. Nothing says “semi-retired” like a one-day road trip in the middle of the week.

Oh, yeah, while I was enjoying dinner at the Victorville In-n-Out Burger, I ordered a new Mac Studio desktop computer. I’ll be able to pick it up in mid-October. Coincidently, just before getting home from the 2019 Christmas Break road trip, I swung by the Town Center Apple Store and picked up a new MacBook Pro, which I’ll be trading in when I get the new Mac Studio in a bit over two-weeks. Wheels within wheels, onward and upward.
