I finally finished my Pepperdine assignments yesterday and some how today I’m dealing with a case of the “directionless” blues. Basically I haven’t really slept since the uphill battle began a week ago to finish a major paper, two homework assignments for my stats class and a “Next Step” paper for my consultancy class. The bulk of the time was spent on the HCI (Human/Computer Interface) paper which ended up being 19 pages… ugh. So, I’d been holding off doing a couple things until I’d finished these assignments. One was just to go out and have a couple beers. The other was to set up my macbookpro as my main computer system AND experiment with the possibility of putting Windows XP on it (Yeah, I know, I live a pretty exciting life, woohoo!).

After I pushed “send” to send off the stats assignments I headed out to get a new copy of XP to put on my mac. I thought that I could get a cheap copy at the local university across town, but their $89 version of XP pro was only available to university students and staff. Us civilians were expected to cough up $229. Ack. No way. I wanted to get a backup battery for my mbp so I wandered over to CompUSA. They didn’t have the right battery and they wanted $299 for XP pro and $200 for XP home. Nyet! This wasn’t looking very good at all. PC Club was across the street and while they generally sell parts for OEMs or system modders, they did have a copy of XP pro for $150 & home for $100. I went for the pro version (later I found out that I could have used the home version… damn). With all that done I headed for my local pub to make up for working so hard for the first half of my Spring Break.

Okay that lasted a couple hours… then I headed home and began the XP on a mac experiment. Got everything up and running and then pretty much just passed out… Yeah, wild times! At least my experience so far has been better than the one depicted in this.
