Hard Drive connectors

Argh! I decided last night that it was time to begin some of the upgrades that I previous mulled over, shut down the mac mini, pulled out the cables, relocated the printer and drobo to the bedroom and called it a night. So this morning, knowing that moving the data to the new hard drive is going to take some time, I decide that I should connect the new drive and let the set up run while I make breakfast. That’s when I discovered that the power connector that I’d stored with the little external USB connector didn’t go together (see photo above, cable with four holes is supposed to go to the slot of the box below… ah… hold on… )…

Damn. Looking at the picture I knew I was missing something. Then when I opened up the tiny little 2.5 hard drive I knew that great big power cord wasn’t going to work. Then I remember a bunch of other cables that I’d never used before. Ta da, I figured it out and can proceed with the upgrade. I can be so stupid sometimes. Of course, now I’m worries that I got wrong kind of hard drive for my mac mini. Ugh. One crisis at a time. jbb
