My dad used to say that he only like movies that were “real.” Given that he really wasn’t a fan of documentaries, I know that he was actually commenting against the fascination that his children seem to have with fantasy and sci-fi films. Well, this next video kind’a points out that from it’s earliest years the film industry has always been about telling a stories from worlds that do not actually exist. Sorry about that, dad. But to his concern, the better movies use their “film making tricks” with you not being aware of them. When the film seems to be about the special effects then something has failed in the movie making process (either that or you’re watching a Roland Emmerich/Michael Bay film). Enjoy.
