Stories of Boomers using tech are so hilarious… unless you’re the designated “tech support” person. Yeah, that would be me. No, I was not a computer science major or received formal training. My Masters degree and doctoral work in Educational Technology focused primarily on understanding where the educational process can benefit from emerging technologies. Most of us were self-taught in terms of the nuts and bolts of working with these “little beasties” (computers, not our students). In fact, my primary take away was understanding the human-computer interface and how engineers and technology cheerleaders can get it so wrong some times.

While my stereotypical Boomer compatriots may have been yelling at Alexis, I’ve spent the last three weeks moving over 1,400 blog entries from my WordPress.org blog to three new self-hosted WordPress.com sites and doing more than a little internal yelling myself. It would be completely understandable if the second half of that sentence made no sense to you. I’ve been working with tech since the late 1970s and blogging since the mid-1990s and it still amazes me when I have to look for tutorials on YouTube or contact the tech support chatbot because I can’t get something to work. And sometimes the problem is the difference between Alexis and Alexa. Ugh.

Time for a “station ID”/Promo. I don’t do this very often or often enough, but if those of you who enjoy these posts could go to my blog(s) and “subscribe” with your name and email address on the form at the bottom of the blog post with the “Please Subscribe” button that would be great. Given FaceBook’s mysterious algorithm and all of the other online noise, the best way to guarantee seeing these posts is to subscribe via email and, of course, it is completely free. Also, please feel free to comment on FaceBook or directly on the blog. Please go to JoeBustillos.com for all my blogging goodness.

While doing my last YouTube search I stumbled on the following Michael McDonald video of the song “Minute-by-Minute.” Previously I found a version of the same concert that began with a two-minute opening credit segment of the longer concert documentary/video before launching into the song. The funny part was that all of the “stars” listed in the opening credits weren’t visibly in the song… Okay. Enjoy your Friday and please don’t forget to subscribe to the blog. Thanks.
