For the next couple weeks I will be posting the Gratitude Journal prompts that are being given to my students and my response post.

It has been a very rough day. For the second time in two weeks we had a multi-hour soft lockdown because of some threat of violence in the neighborhood. And while we weren’t in a direct-threat situation, having the same group of students for more than a few hours with no bathroom or other breaks is tiring. Then, sadly, in an after-school meeting we learned that a colleague had passed away. I didn’t know this person very well, but many were overcome with emotions and it just made for a very shitty day. So, it’s more than a little challenging to think about my “happy places” at the moment. 

Generally, my once-a-week visit to my local In-n-Out Burger brings me a small measure of joy. Watching movies with Debra is always a good place to be. And lately I’ve been getting some satisfaction either building one of my LEGO projects or overcoming a building challenge where I don’t have some needed parts and I find a work-around. I know, very nerdy.
