For the next couple weeks I will be posting the Gratitude Journal prompts that are being given to my students and my response post.

Given where I’ve lived most of my life, it might be surprising that I’m not really a fan of the heat. Granted back in the late 1990s/2000s when I lived in Long Beach, temperate was that yearlong take on the weather. Low 50s in the winter and upper 90s in the summer, but nothing intolerable. Orlando was another deal. Hard rain from May to November, with temperatures hovering in the high 90s. So fans and AC was required. Now in Las Vegas, my first day in August of 2016 I opened my car door to 116° and I quickly discovered that any outdoor walking/exercise needed to be done before 8am most of the year. Then in October/late September the temps would drop and stay in the 30s. 

Back to the prompt, I like the weather in the autumn/winter. I like bundling up and wearing layers. I don’t like being cold (or hot), but I can do something about being cold, more than when the AC gets flaky. So winter in Las Vegas is okay with me.
