Growing up means taking on more responsibilities. Hopefully it’s a gradual process where some caring adult does the things for you and then guides you through the things until you just do the things every day. Not everyone’s experiences are the same and some adults never quite wean from having another adult do many of the things for them. For the adults: which daily things do you wish you didn’t have to do and would rather go back to when someone else was doing it for you? For the kids: which things do you wish “they” would let you do on your own?
Also, I’ve decided to post the prompt without my response “earlier” in the day and then will post my response later in the comments area. So feel free to respond in the comments wherever you find these daily reflection prompts.
I’ll be honest, I’m not a big fan of housework like vacuuming, dusting and the like. I’m forced to do dishes because I run out of things and I only have so much counter space. I like to be “neat enough” that I can locate most things without much thought. In other words, the point of my version of “neatness” serves so that I can do whatever I want without wasting time trying to remember X, Y, and Z. But there are definitely areas where I could do much better. My thought is that it’s only me here, so I really don’t have any excuse for not picking up after myself… But it is one area that I’m not that great at and wish I could afford to have “others” take care of it. Ack.
