We may not have a great deal of choice as to the circumstances that greet us every morning, but we can choose how we respond to those circumstances. My father was an “up before the crack of dawn” kind of person who had a full breakfast and spent time reading the newspaper every day before heading out to begin his day. He was always out the door before any of us kids could be convinced to get up. It was his daily practice, and getting up early enough allowed him to have the time to enjoy breakfast and some time with the newspaper. It would be stretching the narrative to say that it was his daily meditation, but I can imagine how making time in the morning would be meditative. I guess for me my morning shower is when I run though the things of the day, the hot water energizing my body and brain. While there never seems to be enough time to get everything done, one of the best ways to use time more efficiently is to invest time in things like centering medication and getting enough sleep. Funny how that works. I hope you were able to begin the week more center, more present and more effective.
