This can’t be a good thing. While I was looking for specific conference info so that I could figure out when to schedule my online class the first week of January I stumbled on the following:
My first thought was that this had to be an April Fools’ Joke. Ah, no. Damn. Talk about the end of era. This is not going to go well with the macintosh-faithful, and the mac-macs. It’s doubtful that the double release of two Mac-oriented documentaries will appease the anxiety created by a “No Steve Job” Macworld this year, followed by a “No Apple Computer” Macworld next year. What the hell.

Not surprising. Not too long ago Apple cut their conferences back to just MacWorld, this was bound to happen. Makes sense because they’ve reached the point where they don’t need to crash a conference in order to get enough press in a room to launch a product. They can use the Apple Dev event or call a special event and still fill the Moscone Center with no problem. Why force your product launch cycle to fit the schedule of someone else’s conference when you can make your own timetables? This IS the guy that took over a decade to give in to the multi-button mouse wishes. It’s about control and limiting the “cooks in the kitchen” when it comes to when and how new products are released.
