While I’ve gotten better at posting on my blog, looks like I dropped the ball a bit with my weekly video posts in November. Sadly the inspiration for this week’s post is the passing of musician/songwriter Christine McVie. I told a student today how learning how to play guitar in high school helped me deal with the craziness of high school (she showed me the sheet music to “Old Susanna,” saying she’s not so sure if she’s into it and she didn’t seem to know what a chord was…middle school kids).

Music is a life giving/life saving gift that’s carried me through every version of myself. I wanted to find someone who posted a cover of a Christine McVie song in part because sometimes the power or quality of the song is best demonstrated when another musician finds their voice in their interpretation. I lucked out with Meghan Rose’s cover of “Songbird.”

As an added bonus I also like Meghan Rose’s cover of the Kelly Clarkson tune “Sober.” Play some some music and enjoy your weekend.
