So, you’d think the trauma of having to get up at 5:30 after two weeks of not leaving my blankets before 10AM would be enough for one day. Nah, this first morning of the new semester began with no access to the Internet for students or teachers. Happy 2023! Kind’a hard to do attendance when where we are supposed to submit attendance was unavailable. I had just been thinking that my usual practice of creating a separate spreadsheet where I recorded my attendance and then transferred to the district website was tiresome, but knowing that using technology always required a backup plan, saved my bacon today. (Internet was “restored” late in the day, but the attendance website was up and running by second period… priorities). 

So, my students were spared answering this probing prompt. Let’s just say that whatever I had planned for today had to be “amended” so, after recording attendance on my iPad we played with LEGO. 28-years in the classroom, I know how to deal with unexpected obstacles. Happy beginning of the new year.
