So, two weeks after retiring from teaching, I’ve decided that I’m going to “retire” JBB’s Daily Reflection Prompts. The genesis of these post came about because over the past two years I had been creating daily writing/reflection warm-up prompts for my media and robotics and mentorship/home room classes. But given how much time I poured into writing these assignments and how little actual reflection I tended to get from my students I decided in October of 2022 to share these prompts/posts to the public on my blog. After posting one hundred and fifty-four posts, I’ve enjoyed the challenge of coming up with prompts and then posting my own responses. But it still feels like a lot of work that goes largely unnoticed. Time for some changes.

Not long into the process I learned that the only way to do this thing on a daily basis was to have some subject framework to build from, mixing people from history with current news and tech items and other themes based on seasons and days of the week. I’m thinking that I’ll continue with the daily posts built on different themes, but instead of posting a prompt in the morning and my response later in the day, I’ll post my article (ending with an invitation for readers to comment/contribute).

The weekly line up will be:

Meditation Mondays (Buddha)
What's in the News Wednesdays
video Fridays - girl at the movies
Technology Tuesdays
History Heroes/Education Issues Thursdays (ida-b-wells)

Obviously this plan is a bit dependent on whether I’ll continue to have the time to dedicate to my blog given my unknown employment situation. It’ll all depend on if continuing the blog at this pace doesn’t interfere with possible other writing assignments and any possible time constraints that might come from ramping up to the next writing/media gig. Also, I do have JBB’s Final Thoughts (podcast) to consider… In the meantime, I’ll be planning on five posts a week and let’s see where we can take this.
