When I watched the recent FilmRiot short video suggestion, Top Floor, I was immediately reminded of something I’d heard in a TEDx talk by Clay Christensen. The TEDx talk is a bit dense, but the gist is the mismatch between what we really value in life and how we measure success. We know that money does not buy happiness, that except for the shallowest amongst us, the real value in life are the relationships we cherish and build. But as a culture focused on achievement we don’t focus on those relationships but put all of our energy in the day-to-day battles to make ends meet. The protagonist of the recommended video short is running the risk of losing it all because success means living on the top floor. Enjoy.
