I find it interesting that as video screen resolutions and image reproduction gets better that the effect tends to actually take us out of the movie we’re watching because it doesn’t look “filmic” enough. I remember the first time I saw a movie on a beautiful high-definition screen in some showroom and my first impression was that the quality was so good that I felt like I was looking at a movie being filmed on some backlot. I’m sure we’ll get used to it and wonder how previous generations put up with the graininess of “old style” films. In the meantime the folks at LG have come up with a great way, albeit a bit mean, to demonstrate that their TVs are so good one would think that one is looking out a window… an onto the scene of impending doom. Enjoy(?).
