Week 12 is done. Testing is done (for the most part). How did you do this week? What are you going to do over the weekend to recover and be ready for next week?
So, the week began poorly with me struggling to get over some stomach bug that wiped me out for the preceding weekend and the first two days of the week. On top of that, it looks like April is going to be a very busy month with a Writers conference and a many day Rockabilly event and a weekend visit with a high school buddy to catch a concert and a Cirque du Soleil show… So, I have to stay as many days or weeks ahead of the curriculum train as possible. Oh yeah, I also found out that I was going to lose on Wednesday the use of eight robot kits that had made it possible for me to have reasonable group sizes for my advanced robotics classes… and the Sphero robots I began to use with my intro classes, only two out of 12 could hold a charge for longer than about 15 seconds. Thus, I needed to cancel the weekend and a half of instruction I was going to use them for and figure out what I was going to do with those two classes. Oh yeah and we had three days of testing for the 8th graders and two days with everyone else. That alone makes everyone more than a little twitchy.
The result of all of this is that I regained a renewed appreciation for paying closer attention to my diet and sleep. Eight VEX IQ IKE robots were attempted, dismantled, inventoried and returned to Desert Research Institute (thank you!). I began plans on how to make the remaining 20 VEX IQ robots work with over 100 students. Found out that Apple retail isn’t hiring (which might be a blessing in the long run…) and got my Income Tax info to my accountant. Adios Week 12. Thirty-two more days to go. Hope you have a great weekend and beginning to the month of April.
