I seriously thought that I had until Wednesday to continue the workstations upgrades. That’s when the 40” LG monitor was set to arrive. Guess what showed up at my door Saturday afternoon? Okay, let’s tear down the main workstation to install the new monitor.

I’d already installed the new pneumatic monitor arm, so I thought I was going to get away with leaving the vertical monitor and its arm and just disconnect the cabling and remove the other components. After I put the new 40” monitor on the new monitor arm I discovered that the LEDs that were previously attached to the replaced monitor and parts of the standing desk were installed under the old vertical monitor arm and that I needed to remove that whole setup to straighten out the LED setup. Crap. So, I had to clear off everything from the desk except the new monitor arm.

Here’s the setup before removing the 27” monitor:

The 40” monitor came with a neat monitor stand, but would have taken up a lot of my desk, so that’s why I opted for the new monitor arm.

I thought the 40” monitor would weigh more, but it was pretty simple to add the connecting bracket and add it to the arm. I let the monitor rest on the desk until I figured out how I was going to re-cable everything. That was when I discovered that because of the way the LEDs had been previously installed I was going to need to remove the vertical monitor too.

It took a while to rewire everything, but before the end of the night, I got the main workstation up and running.

Sadly the secondary hightop table workstation will have to wait until later to get its upgrade from the 24” monitor to the 27” monitor. I need to change out the monitor arm to accommodate the larger monitor. I was too tired to finish the job Saturday night and was out and about all day Sunday, so that means that Distractions, Part 4 will have to wait until Monday. To be continued.

Finished setting up the 27” monitor to the iMac on the high top table workstation… that is all for now… (setting up treadmill is next…).
