When Love Actually was released in 2003 I’m pretty sure that I wasn’t in a good place as far as “true love” and all that. I probably I saw the film in the theaters, most certainly alone. Why did I do that to myself?

Watching it again last night, 20-years later, I still kind’a wonder, who watches this movie without it rekindling some sense of all the lost opportunities or foolish attempts at love haunting one from the past? Or is that just me?

Talking to my sister and others this morning, they definitely have an entirely different approach to the movie as a simple Christmas comedy/fantasy escapism movie. Okay, I get that. The thing is if you foolishly think about it, all of the “relationships” are either sad, creepy, or desperate and mostly played for laughs. One thing we could all agree on was that “Love Actually” is not a movie to watch if you are really experiencing loneliness or the lack of affection in your life. Damn. Did I just out myself? Hope y’all have a more affectionate 2024.
